Overview
This course has now been running since 2014. It has already trained hundreds of timetable constructors across the UK and has become the standard training for users of Nova T6. Each course is limited to a maximum of six delegates thus allowing the trainer to spend individual time with each delegate. Courses are delivered both in person or virtually.
The two-day course is designed to provide the essential knowledge and skills to construct a school timetable using Nova T6. Level 2 is the level considered necessary for someone responsible for constructing a standard secondary school timetable.
The details of the 2025-26 courses are now confirmed, with booking details below.
Who is it for?
This is an ideal course for staff with a new responsibility for constructing the school timetable but could also be useful for staff wanting to refresh their skills after a period away from construction.
Level 2 assumes some knowledge of school timetables but the course is suitable for those with little or no prior knowledge of Nova T6. It is also a good course for those with some Nova T6 experience who wish to develop a wider understanding of timetabling issues. It is primarily designed to support secondary schools in the North West area. To provide for the best possible individual support, we only allow a maximum of six delegates on this course.
Course content
Day 1 focuses on the basic principles involved in putting together a timetable, including:
- Curriculum planning and delivery
- Maximising staff resources and efficiency
- Principles of timetable construction
- Introduction to Nova T6 as a tool for construction
- Planning and scheduling in Nova T6
Day 2 focuses on developing knowledge and skills of Nova T6 and includes:
- Transferring the timetable for a new academic year
